A JUST QUEBEC FOR ALL ANIMALS

BESA is a Quebec non-profit organization for animal welfare.

It exposes the living conditions of exploited animals in Quebec and proposes solutions to foster a society that is fairer towards animals, but also towards the humans who live in contact with them.

The latest: 23-minute documentary reveals the hidden side of farming in Quebec

These images, shared by the Project Existence and Interspecies Solidarity, illustrate the hidden side of animal agriculture in Quebec: miserable living conditions, shortened lives, rushed employees, and brutalized animals.

More than ever, we must say “STOP” to this system that denies our values and where everyone loses.

Let's protect all animals under Quebec law

Even today, not all animals in Quebec are sufficiently protected by law. Their rights do not depend on their sentience or intelligence, but on their exploitation by various industries.

Our actions

Improve their living conditions

Far from the idyllic pictures on packaging or in stores, most exploited animals live short, tragic lives, often ending in slaughterhouses or grinders. Our commitment: to offer them free, fulfilling, and long lives.

Defend
their rights

In Quebec, despite animals being recognized as conscious and sentient, they can still be caged, killed, or injured unnecessarily. We are committed to transforming these rights into concrete actions, going beyond mere legal wording.

Favor plant-based alternatives

Plant-based alternatives offer health, respect of the environment, and compassion towards animals. We are working to ensure everyone has the choice to eat a healthy, tasty plant-based diet that reduces the number of animals killed for our lives.

HELPING ANIMALS IN QUEBEC

BESA is entirely funded by donations. This gives us the freedom to act in defense of animals by revealing their conditions of life (and death), and by proposing solutions to help them.

This independence is invaluable, at a time when economic interests often take precedence over those of living beings.
